Helen is best known for the trilogy that begins with Children of the Holocaust, a groundbreaking open discussion of family relationships and the Holocaust’s impact on the second generation. Followed by Where She Came From, a powerful account of her mother’s horrific experiences in the Holocaust and concludes with The Long Half-Lives of Love and Trauma, an intimate view of the personal trauma of sexual abuse in its post-Holocaust context. Helen will also discuss how she drew on her mother’s experiences to help her in her own struggle with gynecological cancer, which she documents in her book Getting Through It.
