All study sessions are held on Thursdays\, 4:00pm-5:30pm. \nSession 1 (November 9) and session 2 (January 11\, 2024) are centered on Deborah. \nSession 3 (February 8\, 2024) highlights Miriam. \nSession 4 (April 11\, 2024) focuses on Queen Esther. \nWe are honored to have “Women of Action: Past & Present” facilitated by Fran Sachs\, Educator Emerita. \nThe fee is $18 per person for the virtual four-part study series. \nAdvance registration is required. DESCRIPTION:Dr. Thomas Cimarusti\, Professor of Music History at Florida Gulf Coast University\, returns to the J for an enchanting multimedia presentation on Jewish identity in the music of Leonard Bernstein. \n  \nLeonard Bernstein is one of the most important conductors in American history. As a conductor\, composer\, pianist\, music educator\, author\, and humanitarian Bernstein maintained a lifelong involvement with Judaism\, writing several works of music\, including Symphony No. 3 (“Kaddish”)\, which were derived from the Old Testament and the Chichester Psalms\, a choral work with Hebrew text.
