If you have a nine, ten or eleven year old child in your home you know this is the stage when they are all about making their own choices.

Now they can do just that and still benefit from Jewish values through the next chapter of PJ Library® – PJ Our Way™. The new program is implemented by the Friedman Commission for Jewish Education (CJE) in the Greater Palm Beaches, and encourages children to go online and select their own free Jewish-themed books.

The PJ Our Way website, cjepb.org/pjourway  , offers children an online catalog of books at while giving them the tools to create book trailers, videos, quizzes, author interviews, and other media to communicate with peers about the books.

Amy Bergman, Director of Jewish Family Life for the Commission for Jewish Education, says “Over the past eight years CJE and PJ Library have delivered more than 100,000 free books to families in the Greater Palm Beaches. Families have shared with us how much they enjoy the PJ experience and how much they miss it when their children get older and no longer receive the books. The new PJOW program keeps the momentum going and is a gift for those families who want to expand their children’s Jewish journey and encourage life-long reading.”

Grants from the Harold Grinspoon Foundation and generous private donations in the Greater Palm Beaches fund the PJ Library program for more than 1,400 children each month.

“We believe these stories and their values help shape young people in their understanding of being Jewish, and it’s our hope that PJ Our Way will ultimately build a strong community of young Jewish people,” said Harold Grinspoon, Founder of PJ Library and PJ Our Way.

For more than 25 years the Lorraine & Jack N. Friedman Commission for Jewish Education of the Palm Beaches has enriched and strengthened Jewish life and education throughout the Greater Palm Beaches.
