The Third Daughter removes the veil of secrecy from a shameful chapter in Jewish history: the sex trafficking of young women from Russia to South America in the late 1800s. The story is told by Batya, a trusting young woman fleeing with her family from endless pogroms. She is lured to Buenos Aires, where prostitution is legal and embedded in the culture. As Batya struggles to free herself from bondage, she finds courage in the face of danger and hope in hours of despair.

Talia Carner is formerly the publisher of Savvy Woman magazine and a lecturer at international women’s economic forums. She is a committed supporter of global human rights, and she has spearheaded projects centered on the subjects of female plight and women’s activism. Her four other acclaimed novels – Hotel Moscow, winner of a USA Best Book Award; Jerusalem Maiden; China Doll and Puppet Child – have been hailed for exposing society’s ills.  She lives in New York and Florida.
