COMMUNITY SUPPORT IS KEY TO SUCCESSFUL ANNUAL CAMPAIGN

Federation continues to focus on most vulnerable populations and address critical issues facing community impacted by COVID-19.

Through the support of thousands of community members like you, including nearly 1,000 new donors, Federation successfully raised $16.4 million for its 2020 annual campaign. Contributions to the campaign enable us to fulfill our mission to care for the vulnerable while finding powerful opportunities to strengthen connections to Jewish values, traditions and life.

Additionally, donors to our J-Help Coronavirus Emergency Response gave $1.5 million to provide support to the most critical needs in the community that address the unprecedented needs from the COVID-19 pandemic and economic crisis.

“Due to the coronavirus pandemic, this is the first time in history that Jewish communities around the world have been simultaneously confronted with significant health, social and economic challenges. The Palm Beaches continues to be a center for Jewish philanthropy and one of the most vibrant and thriving Jewish communities anywhere. These stellar results are a testament to the commitment of so many in our community who continue to step up to care for those who need us more than ever,” added Joel Yudenfreund, Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County’s 2020 Campaign Chair.

Here’s what you helped us accomplish during the 2019-2020 year:
• Counseling services for families and individuals impacted by the coronavirus;
• Free mobile security patrols for 22 local Jewish organizations and synagogues to prevent and respond to potential acts of antisemitism;
• Food and medicine deliveries to frail seniors;
• Scholarships to enable children to attend summer day camp
• Launching a new career services program;
• Expansive online Jewish education for children and families;
• Emergency financial assistance, and much more.

“Throughout the campaign, the level of engagement among community members was extraordinary and inspiring,” said Cindy Schlossberg, 2020 Women’s Philanthropy Board Chair. “In addition to donating, I am inspired by the number of guests at each event and the growing number of volunteers, many who have made wellness calls to thousands of people since March through our Jewish Volunteer Center.”

Federation also connected synagogues, partner agencies and other Jewish nonprofit organizations with top Federation experts to help them navigate federal loan and financial assistance programs. In fact, each of Federation’s partners has received loans through the CARES Act and Payroll Protection Program (PPP).

Beyond the annual campaign, Jewish Community Foundation has helped to shape and secure the future of the Jewish community by raising nearly $16 million from 45 endowment funds and bequests. Additionally, as part of its LIFE & LEGACY® program, more than 400 donors have committed $30 million to Federation and eight other local partners and synagogues through after lifetime gifts since the program started three years ago.

Michael Hoffman, president and CEO of Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County, shared, “During this incredibly unprecedented time as we continue to adapt to meet the community’s most pressing needs, I am so impressed by our partner agencies who quickly pivoted to provide critical services to our most vulnerable in new, innovative and technology-driven ways. It’s this work that enables us to best utilize contributions from our generous community.”

We have now begun our campaign for the 2020-2021 year, which enables donors at all levels to ensure their generosity has the most significant reach. For more information, including how you can contribute, visit here.
