There are lots of new and innovative ways we can all stay connected. Here is a list of resources and ideas geared towards grandparents, but really they can be used by anyone.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: ITCAvantGardeStd-Bk;\">BUT FIRST, read this article: <a href=\"https:\/\/jewishgrandparentsnetwork.org\/2020\/03\/19\/staying-connected-in-this-time-of-social-distance\/?fbclid=IwAR3mAXur5xrqV0zF3ebJfI1HMB8vv43PCpyBw4uyN9e6ShtejzZeHhRchKQ\">Staying Connected In This Time Of Social Distance<\/a> from the Jewish Grandparents Network and then <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/groups\/JewishGrandparentsNetwork\/\">JOIN THEIR GROUP<\/a> on Facebook.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: ITCAvantGardeStd-Bk;\"><strong><u>Preschool Aged Children (2-5 years)<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: ITCAvantGardeStd-Bk;\">PJ Library\u00ae has a list of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/pjlibrary.org\/familyactivities\">resources<\/a>, these include readaloud book videos, craft project <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pjlibrary.org\/listen\">Jewish music<\/a>, podcasts for kids and adults, etc. If you haven\u2019t done so, sign up for the PJ Library <a href=\"https:\/\/pjlibrary.org\/beyond-books\/grandparents\">grandparents program<\/a>. Not only can you get FREE Jewish books, your will also find some great resources for grandparents on how to share your heritage and pass down traditions to the next generation.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: ITCAvantGardeStd-Bk;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ucEIPOxR-bs\">Shalom Sesame\u200b <\/a>is fun to watch together over Zoom screen-sharing.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: ITCAvantGardeStd-Bk;\">Distract the kids for a bit in any way you can\u2014give their quarantined parents a bit of a break. To do this by computer or phone, create things like a puppet or music show, something the kids will focus on. Keep your expectations low in terms of how long their attention will remain.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: ITCAvantGardeStd-Bk;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/caribu.com\/\">Caribu.com\u200b<\/a> is a video calling service that allows you to read digital storybooks to your family. You both see the pages turning, and your voice is broadcast\u2014this can help keep kids\u2019 attention better than a book they can only see through a webcam.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: ITCAvantGardeStd-Bk;\"><strong><u>Elementary Aged Children (K-5th Grade)<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: ITCAvantGardeStd-Bk;\">You can go virtual <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/travel\/stuck-at-home-these-12-famous-museums-offer-virtual-tours-you-can-take-on-your-couch\/\">museum hopping<\/a>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: ITCAvantGardeStd-Bk;\">Do <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kennedy-center.org\/education\/mo-willems\/?fbclid=IwAR1j6h54_CjkiAmBm5eVwB4JUcsjQ8PXOAW3p1qEcgqLCVgsaNFjVQSjXRc\">Lunch Doodles<\/a> together with Mo Willems, Kennedy Center Education Artist-in-Residence at Home.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: ITCAvantGardeStd-Bk;\">See if you can join their online classes or Zoom in for homework hour. Their parents might appreciate a tutor!<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: ITCAvantGardeStd-Bk;\">Download a <a href=\"https:\/\/pjlibrary.org\/passover\">FREE Haggadah<\/a> from PJ Library, perfect for elementary aged children and their families, maybe you can send them copies and use it for a <a href=\"https:\/\/reformjudaism.org\/blog\/2020\/03\/20\/how-hold-passover-seder-year-coronavirus\">virtual Seder<\/a>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: ITCAvantGardeStd-Bk;\">If your grandkids have a hobby or are learning a skill (music, for instance), you can help by talking about it with them, looking at their work or sitting with them while they practice.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: ITCAvantGardeStd-Bk;\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong><u>Tweens, Teens and Older<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: ITCAvantGardeStd-Bk;\">Kveller lists\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kveller.com\/jewish-tv-shows-to-binge-watch-while-youre-stuck-at-home\/\">Jewish TV shows<\/a> to watch.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: ITCAvantGardeStd-Bk;\">Sign them up to get FREE Jewish chapter books and graphic novels (that they choose themselves from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pjourway.org\">PJ Our Way\u2122<\/a>.
