Generational Philanthropy Services (GPS)

We are proud to partner with you and your family in the GPS program, which is designed to offer participants — DAF holders, Supporting Foundations and Priority Fund donors — an experience akin to having their own private foundations, but without the associated burdens.

This service, available to all Supporting Foundations, Priority Fund donors and DAFs with average balances of $250,000 or more, will be offered without any increase in management fees — our way of expressing gratitude for the trust these families place in us.

Participating donors can tailor the program to fit their unique needs and family dynamics. Options range from an annual meeting to discuss funding opportunities to more frequent, in-depth meetings focused on family values, legacy planning and funding strategy. A Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) can simplify your charitable giving and may offer tax advantages. You make one contribution, receive a charitable deduction, and then recommend grants to qualified nonprofits over time. It’s an efficient way to support a wide range of causes while keeping all your charitable activity organized in one place.

You can recommend grants to any IRS-qualified 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization across the United States. This gives you the flexibility to support the causes you care about most.

To open a Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) at MJCF, the minimum initial contribution is $5,000 for donors age 46 and older, and $2,500 for donors age 45 and younger.

Our administrative fees are based on your DAF balance and are charged quarterly. Here’s the breakdown:

  • Minimum fee: $25 for funds up to $2,499
  • 1% on assets from $2,500 to $199,999
  • 0.75% on the next $299,999 (up to $499,999)
  • 0.5% on assets over $500,000


Fees are calculated on the average ending balance of the previous four months. Rates may be adjusted periodically by the Federation Board.
