With numerous volunteer opportunities for all ages, connect with the vibrant Jewish Palm Beach community to celebrate the 8 days of Hanukkah with 8 days of good deeds to support those in need throughout the Palm Beaches and beyond.

Non-perishable food donations: Monday, November 4, to Thursday, November 21
Frozen turkey donations along with non-perishable foods: Thursday, November 21, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. (registration required)
Drop off donations at either Mandel JCC: 5221 Hood Road, Palm Beach Gardens or 8500 Jog Road, Boynton Beach
Requested items include frozen turkeys, canned cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes, vegetables and soup, boxed stuffing, bags of potatoes, packets of gravy mix, boxed rice or pasta, whole oranges or apples, and ready-to-serve, non-perishable desserts.
Donations support Place of Hope, The Soup Kitchen of Boynton Beach, Alpert Jewish Family Service, Quantum House and The Lord’s Place.

Bring the whole family as both Temple Israel and Temple Beth El team up with Kohl JVC and PJ Library® to honor the Jewish value of Gmilut Hasadim – acts of loving kindness for “Birds and Baskets” – a family mitzvah project which will provide Thanksgiving meals to local families in need. Register online by Monday, November 18, then shop with your family or loved ones and bring your haul to Temple Israel on Sunday, November 24 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. where we will assemble and decorate Thanksgiving meal baskets.

Honor the Jewish value of Kehillah – fostering community – by helping provide critical baby essentials to Aid to Victims of Domestic Abuse (AVDA) in partnership with Jewish Women’s Foundation (JWF) for survivors and their families. Visit their Amazon Wish List where all items will be shipped directly to Federation and will help with essentials including diapers, baby wipes, pull-ups and formula as well as new bottles, sippy cups, pacifiers and bedding (twin and full-size sheet sets).

Celebrate the Jewish value of Lomed M’Kol Adam – learn from everyone – as you make Hanukkah brighter for local families. In collaboration with Alpert Jewish Family Service and PJ Library®, join us for this new initiative that will benefit families who might otherwise not have presents to open this holiday season. We will wrap, tie and learn new gift-wrapping skills, while connecting with new friends, and enjoying a festive latke bar. Volunteers are encouraged to donate new coloring books and crayons to needy families.

Join Kohl JVC in partnership with the Brooke Jackman Foundation as we celebrate the Jewish value of Nedivut – generosity. Volunteers of all ages can decorate holiday cards and help fill backpacks filled with age-appropriate, holiday-themed books and supplies for children in need at an elementary school in Boynton Beach. Let us together provide students with joy and learning during their winter break.

All ages are invited to bring their holiday spirit as we partner with Kind Kitchen this holiday season to honor the Jewish value of Kibud Zekaynim – honoring senior citizens – by preparing and packing festive meals for those in need. Each volunteer event concludes with a latke party.

Volunteers of all ages are invited to join Kohl JVC and Kind Kitchen in honoring the Jewish value of V’shinantam L’Vanecha – and you shall teach your children. We will prep and pack holiday meals for those in need, then take part in a Hanukkah celebration that honors our dedicated volunteers and spreads the light of Hanukkah.

Ocean Reef Park

Honor the Jewish value of Shmirat HaTeva – protecting nature – as volunteers of all ages are invited to help clean the beach at Ocean Reef Park in Riviera Beach followed by cleaning debris from nearby Flagler Drive. Learn about the importance of litter reduction and how we can all make a positive impact on the environment. This event is in partnership with Beach Bucket Foundation.
