Judith A. Levy

Judith Levy’s history of commitment to the Jewish people and her outstanding leadership in the Jewish Federation movement spans more than 50 years. Her involvement began in Boston, where she served as Campaign Chair and President of the Women’s Division. Judith was the first woman to become the Major Gifts Chair for the general campaign of Combined Jewish Philanthropies (CJP), and was responsible for Women’s Division being the second community in the country to adopt the Lion of Judah Program.

She was a member of the National Women’s Philanthropy Board for six years during which time she served as President and Chaired the National Women’s Campaign for United Jewish Appeal (UJA) and the Long Range Strategic Planning Committee that articulated a mandate to “integrate Women’s Campaign in all aspects of UJA and create opportunities for women to advance in all leadership positions, nationally, regionally and locally.” Judith then became the Women’s Regional Chair for the Northeast Region of UJA and served for many years as a Board member of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC).

When she moved to Palm Beach more than 30 years ago, Judith immediately became a vital part of Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County, where she is recognized as a distinguished leader. Among the many positions Judith has held: Major Gifts Chair; member of the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee; two terms as Chair of Federation’s General Campaign; and three years as Federation President. She has chaired many missions – to Israel, Cuba, Argentina and Brazil – over the years. Judith was recognized for her accomplishments as the 2012 recipient of the Kipnis-Wilson/Friedland Award for our Federation.

Presently, Judith is the chairman of Birthright Israel Foundation for the state of Florida as well as a member of the National Board of Birthright Israel Foundation. She has built a cadre of leadership and interest in our own county, as she works to make Birthright available to many young adults who want to go to Israel for this unique experience.

Throughout Judith’s young adult life, she was impacted by the plight of European Jewry during World War II and she vowed that she would devote herself to developing and maintaining Jewish communities and Jewish identity.
