  • One in four adults in the U.S. have a disability that impacts major life activities.
  • It is estimated that more than one in five U.S. adults live with a mental illness.
  • Over 42 million Americans have a severe disability, and 96% of them are unseen.
  • The most common disability type, mobility, affects 1 in 7 adults. With age, disability becomes more common, affecting about 2 in 5 adults age 65 and older.
  • Among most people with disabilities, the top five character strengths scores were love of learning, honesty, appreciation of beauty and excellence, kindness, and fairness.
  • 20.9% of Palm Beach County residents have a disability.
  • 4,587,950 adults in Florida have a disability. 26% or one in four.
  • Nearly 2.9 million Florida adults about 17% of the population, have some form of mental illness.
