Be Part of a Movement to Make Your Mark on our Jewish Community
Women’s Philanthropy is for any community member who identifies as a woman and wants to make a difference in our local and global Jewish community. We are change-makers, caregivers, professionals, stay-at-home moms and empty nesters, mothers and daughters, volunteers.
Why Get Involved with Women’s Philanthropy?
Women make up roughly half of the general population, and locally we raise almost 50 percent of the philanthropic dollars to our Jewish Federation. What kind of a difference do you want to make?
Getting involved with Women’s Philanthropy will allow you to participate in activities designed specifically for you as women in the 21st century, no matter your stage of life. Joined by shared values, we will focus on philanthropy, volunteerism, events and travel experiences that will unite us on our common journey toward a better future.

There are so many reasons to consider making a philanthropic commitment of any amount as a woman in your own name. Doing so provides you with your own identity as an investor in our Jewish community. It allows you to stand up and say, “Hineni,” I am here. And it shows your family that you care.

Lions of Judah are women who make individual gifts of $6,000 or more to Jewish Federation’s Annual Campaign. With a minimum gift of $120,000, you can perpetuate your gift and create a Lion of Judah Endowment Fund in your name. The annual spendable portion of the Lion of Judah Endowment Fund is used each year to make a grant to Federation’s Annual Campaign in your name FOREVER.
Lion of Judah Endowment: An Important Philanthropic Decision
Isabel Berg and her husband, Steve, recently made Palm Beach Gardens their full-time home, after being seasonal residents for five years. Isabel was proud to become a Lion of Judah in Palm Beach County, demonstrating her commitment to our community through Federation’s annual giving program for women. She was already a Lion with Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest New Jersey, so she decided it just made sense.
But Isabel said perhaps her most important philanthropic decision was to endow her new Lion gift so she could be sure it would continue to have an impact after her lifetime. “Endowment is critical for [community support that lasts in] perpetuity,” she explained. “If I give now, the money is invested and will have an impact on Judaism and the traditions I care about in years to come.” She also chose to endow her Lion of Judah gift because she believes it’s critical that women have a voice in Jewish life. Endowments are a way that “women who are passionate about what they do, and share that passion with others, can influence the [future] of the Jewish community,” she said.
In addition to her Lion of Judah Endowment, Isabel also created a Donor Advised Fund (DAF) that acts as a philanthropic account. When you open a DAF, you are generally eligible for a tax deduction for the full amount of your gift.
Isabel sees herself as leading by example with her endowments – noting that her excitement and enthusiasm is showing others that what they do today ensures Jewish tomorrows. “You set a tone for your children and grandchildren, too, making sure what we do is continued l’dor v’dor – from generation to generation,” she said. “It’s our responsibility as parents and as Jewish women.”

Our Social Action Initiative with Dignity Grows
Women’s Philanthropy, in partnership with Federation’s Jewish Volunteer Center, is proud to continue our partnership with nonprofit Dignity Grows in our community. This amazing organization empowers women and girls by providing menstrual and hygiene supplies to those who need it most.
We will gather as a community as part of 8 Days, 8 Ways of Giving Back, and again on Good Deeds Day. During these “packing parties,” we will learn about the work done by our recipient organizations and pack thousands of tote bags to truly make a difference in the lives of struggling women and girls.
Women’s Philanthropy also will offer packing parties in various residential communities.
