One Year Anniversary of Tree of Life Tragedy: 3 Ways You Can Stand up to Antisemitism

On October 27, 2018, 11 innocent people lost their lives when a gunman opened fire in the Tree Of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh.

A year later, we have opportunities to have our voices heard – as Jews, as Americans, as human beings. This weekend, we and our partners are once again bringing our global communities together in solidarity to fight antisemitism and honor those who have been lost in the name of hatred.

On Saturday, October 26, AJC – American Jewish Committee (AJC) is leading #ShowUpForShabbat, which encourages people of all faiths and denominations to join together at synagogues internationally to pray, remember the victims and strengthen one another. Local participating synagogues include Palm Beach Synagogue (Palm Beach Island), Temple Beth Am (Jupiter), Temple Beth El (West Palm Beach), Temple Beth Torah (Wellington) and Temple Emanu-El (Palm Beach Island).

On Sunday, October 27, Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA) will share a collective moment of remembrance in their #PausewithPittsburgh initiative. Visit pausewithpittsburgh.com to receive text messages including a video with a prayer honoring the 11 lives lost; a link to a livestream video of a public memorial service in Pittsburgh; and an opportunity to send a message of support.

On Monday, October 28,  the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) is organizing a statewide call to action, No Place for Hate Day. Post a picture on social media with #NoPlaceForHate to show what you’re doing to stand firmly against the rising tide of hatred.
