3rd Annual Never Again Holocaust Survivors Benefit
Wednesday, December 15 at 7 p.m.

This event shares the stories of Holocaust survivors and the important work of Alpert JFS are amplified far and wide. Featured speaker Steven Rambam (private investigator and “Nazi Hunter”) will share chilling stories of how he has brought evildoers to justice, secured recorded confessions of their heinous crimes, and why we can never forget. The evening will also feature discussions with Evelyn Grapek, a Holocaust survivor and client of JFS; Dr. Mitchell Josephs, who provides dental work for area Holocaust survivors at no cost; and the inaugural Never Again Award in memory of Vivienne Felberman Ivry z”l to Joanne Baseman, a former teacher who worked to bring survivors to speak to her 4th-grade classes. The evening’s emcee will be Teri Hornstein, news anchor and reporter for CBS12. Event is virtual and open to the community, free of charge.

Lecture and Reception with Shuly Rubin Schwartz, Irving Lehrman Research Professor of American Jewish History, a groundbreaking scholar of American Jewish history, and a visionary institutional leader. She is the eighth chancellor of The Jewish Theological Seminary and the first woman to serve in this role since JTS was founded in 1886. Chancellor Schwartz was one of the first women on the JTS faculty and played an instrumental role in introducing Jewish gender studies into the curriculum.

Take part in the lecture “Nuremberg Revisited: Then and Now” to commemorate U.N. Holocaust Observance Day. Judge Einhorn was a prosecutor and litigation chief for OSI, the Justice Department agency responsible for seeking the identification and prosecution of fugitive Nazi war criminals found in the US. Judge Einhorn took depositions and conducted diplomatic assignments in Europe, including the former Soviet Union, in order to obtain the assistance of foreign governments in OSI’s case work. He also participated in litigation before a number of federal district and immigration courts, federal courts of appeals, and the US Supreme Court. He also helped write the modern US law of asylum.

Live lecture: The Dead Sea Scrolls: Discovery & Decipherment. Professor Gary A. Rendsburg is a professor of biblical studies, Hebrew language, and ancient Judaism at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He holds the rank of Distinguished Professor and serves as the Blanche and Irving Laurie Chair of Jewish History at Rutgers University (2004–present), with positions in the Department of Jewish Studies and the Department of History. Prior to teaching at Rutgers, Rendsburg taught for 18 years at Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y. (1986-2004) and for six years at Canisius College in Buffalo, N.Y. (1980-1986).
