Administrative Assistant (full-time)
Temple Emanu-El of Palm Beach, a warm and welcoming conservative synagogue, is seeking a full-time
Administrative Assistant. Reporting to the Synagogue Administrator, the administrative assistant will work closely
with the clergy, staff, Board of Trustees and lay leaders, and will interact with our congregation and guests.
The ideal candidate has the following qualities:
• Strong written and oral communication
• Exceptional interpersonal skills with a positive, welcoming attitude and a high level of decorum and
confidentiality
• Organized, efficient and uses judgement in prioritizing
• Ability to multi-task with attention to detail
• Computer-oriented in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Publisher, Outlook), database software (ShulCloud
preferred) and social media and email platforms (e.g. Constant Contact)
• Familiarity with Jewish rituals, holidays and life-cycle traditions is a plus
Among the responsibilities:
• Create new correspondence, utilizing templates, preparing and/or distributing membership, high holidays
and other packets as needed
• Serve as receptionist which includes greeting, directing vendors, answering and screening calls, taking
messages
• Manage and maintain office supplies
• Sort and distribute mail
• Data entry of member and guest information
• Update temple calendars, coordinating requests and communicating with maintenance and kitchen
personnel for room needs
• Advise Marketing staff of program, events and other calendar items and updates
• Create and distribute weekly announcements to be read by clergy and layleaders
• Maintain lists such as program attendance, addresses, MiSheberach (those in need of healing), etc.
• Contact members and guests to promote engagement and a sense of belonging
• Assist with program, event and room rental needs including room set-ups, air conditioning schedule,
arrival of vendors, etc.
• Assist with bnai mitzvah schedule, forms and other coordination
• Myriad assignments as directed
The successful candidate is a personable, welcoming and experienced team player who is interested in supporting
our vibrant, warm and growing congregation.
Hours are Monday through Thursday 8:30am-5:00pm, Friday 8:30am-3:00pm. Some evenings and weekend work
may be required but will be limited. This is an in-person position, in a non-smoking and drug-free workplace.
Salary will commensurate with experience. Benefits include medical, paid vacation and sick leave. A criminal and
credit background check will be performed.
