Program & Event Coordinator (part-time)
Temple Emanu-El of Palm Beach, a warm and welcoming conservative synagogue, is seeking a part-time
Program & Event Coordinator. Reporting to the Synagogue Administrator, the Coordinator will work closely
with the Vice President of Programming, committee chairs and their members, and our clergy and staff, and
will interact with our congregation and guests.
The ideal candidate has the following qualities:
• A team-player with exceptional interpersonal skills, possessing a positive attitude and high level of
decorum and confidentiality
• Strong written and oral communication
• Organized, efficient, and able to multi-task with attention to detail
• Has experience planning, organizing and running successful programs and events
• Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Familiarity with Jewish rituals, holidays and life-cycle traditions is a plus
Among the responsibilities:
• Help create and enhance programs and events to engage members, promote new participation and
foster community relationships
• Provide and direct all operational aspects:
o Secure speakers, arrange travel, and furnish details for timely contracts, payments and marketing
o Create and adhere to a budget
o Arrange room needs (e.g. set-up, maintenance, food)
o Contact, schedule and/or coordinate vendors (e.g. valet, caterer, A/V, decorations)
o Inform and coordinate with lay leaders, clergy and staff to ensure cohesive and smooth flow of
program/event (e.g. announcements needed, feasibility of timetable, space usage)
o Create and uphold timetable, assign staff and lay responsibilities, verify all equipment is
operational, oversee registration and other areas, resolve unexpected issues, engage with
guests, etc.
• Maintain detailed attendance lists and create rosters, tickets, acknowledgements, signage, table cards,
thank you correspondence, etc.
• Request feedback, analyze and report on programs/events to leadership and staff, contact attendees or
vendors when necessary
Work week will be approximately 25 hours based on season, holidays and event planning. Candidate must be
flexible, as the Coordinator should be present at most programs and events, including some evenings and
weekends. This is an in-person position, in a non-smoking and drug-free workplace. Salary will commensurate
with experience. Benefits are not available to part-time staff. A criminal and credit background check will be
performed.
