YAD HEBREW SCHOOL STUDENTS CELEBRATE GRADUATION

The J.N. Somers Yad Hebrew School for Children with Differing Abilities celebrated students’ successful completion of another school year with its Commencement Ceremony on Sunday, May 19, 2019, at Connections Education Center of the Palm Beaches.

As part of the celebration, students showed parents, family and friends many of the Jewish prayers, songs and Israeli dances they learned this year.

The Yad Hebrew School is the only school of its kind where students learn Jewish traditions, holiday rituals and Hebrew prayers in a fun, one-to-one, barrier-free environment. The program is designed to serve children who primarily attend self-contained classes in public or private special education facilities and who learn most effectively in a smaller school   environment. Each year, Yad students learn through the lens of a Jewish value, and this year’s theme was gratitude.

Yad Hebrew School is a program of the Friedman Commission for Jewish Education at the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County. For more information, contact Wilma Turk, Director of Special Needs Education, at wilma.turk@jewishpalmbeach.org or 561.640.0700.
